About Grove Collaborative

Grove Collaborative Review

The products we use, whether we’re talking about doing the laundry, taking care of ourselves, or giving supplements to our pets, often tend to be packed with toxic substances, chemicals, and aren’t exactly sustainable. We also know that hunting around for the best socially responsible yet effective brands takes a lot of time.

Luckily, Grove Collaborative has done the work for us, curating a selection of over 150 sustainable brands (a few of which are their own) so you can shop for all your personal care, home care, and pet care needs in one place. And if this is something that piques your interest, then check out my Grove Collaborative review to find out more.

The brand has amassed an impressive following of over 566k followers on Instagram and over 377k likes on Facebook where they post tips on how to use their products and live a more eco-conscious lifestyle. They’ve also made headlines in Forbes, Business Wire, and Bloomberg for their innovative take on hygiene

If you’re looking for products that work well and feel good to use, keep reading this Grove Collaborative review because I’ll tell you all there is to know about the brand. We’ll check out some in-depth product reviews, take a look at what customers are saying, and answer important FAQs, to help you decide if these products are right for you.

Overview Of Grove Collaborative

Grove Collaborative Review

Since it was founded in 2012 by three friends, Jordan Savage, Stuart Landesberg, and Chris Clark, Grove Collaborative has been on a mission to “transform household products into a force for good.” And so, it serves as a marketplace for all the best sustainable brands

Since the company is a Certified B Corporation, all Grove Collaborative brands are required to have clean ingredients, cruelty-free formulas, operate sustainably and be effective. They also prioritize sustainable, recyclable, and reusable packaging as well as lowering carbon emissions for every product shipped.

The brand is committed to becoming completely plastic-free by 2025 and currently offers 100% plastic neutral products, which means for every plastic product they create, they recycle another piece of plastic. While it operates out of California, the brand now sells products worldwide, although its website currently only ships within the US.

Before we delve into their products, my Grove Collaborative review will take a look at some brand highlights.

  • A curated selection of over 150 brands that supply everyday products
  • Sustainably made
  • Non-toxic and cruelty-free
  • Recyclable packaging

Grove Collaborative Review

Their product selection includes all different household necessities—allowing consumers to find all they need in one place without needing to double-check whether the items are safe and natural or not. The list of options includes household cleaning, personal care, laundry, clean beauty, and pet items.

While this brand offers a wide range of cleaning and self-care products, my Grove Collaborative review will focus on the brand’s popular shampoo bars and dry shampoos. With these products, you can rest easy knowing what you put on your hair and down the drain is good for both you and the environment.

Up next, my Grove Collaborative review will get into the ‘sudsy stuff,’ guiding you through some of the brand’s top-selling natural shampoos so you can scrub-a-dub-dub without stressing about hair damage or earth damage.

Grove Collaborative Natural Shampoo Review

If you’re well versed in the world of hair care, you know that a good quality shampoo is a must-have. Damaging sulfates, parabens, and alcohols dry out your hair and they aren’t exactly eco-friendly, either. So, if you’re on the hunt for a shampoo to refresh your hair care routine, you’re in the right place.

In my Grove Collaborative review, I’ll walk you through some of the brand’s most popular shampoo products, to help you feel clean while using clean products (ba-dum-tss).

With innovative designs and high-quality ingredients, your locks will be shiny and voluminous for days to come. Now, let’s check out these Grove Collaborative natural shampoos.

Grove Collaborative Peach Shampoo Bar Review

If you’ve been on a mission to become plastic-free, the Peach Shampoo Bar is calling your name. These shampoo bars should last the same amount of washes as up to two plastic bottles. They also come in recycled paper packaging, which you can recycle again.

Unlike other sulfate-free shampoos, these babies lather up with the help of coconut-derived surfactants. So essentially, they supply all the suds while keeping your hair hydrated. Plus, the fragrance is 100% natural, free of additives and chemicals.

They’re even handcrafted in small batches, cutting down on water and energy waste. Plus, they come in three different options—moisturizing, strengthening, or volumizing—so you can pick the one that’s best for your hair type.

To use the Grove Collaborative Peach Shampoo Bar, follow these simple steps:

  1. Wet your hair and bar
  2. Massage bar into the crown of your head to lather
  3. Once sudsy, use your hands to focus the lather on your scalp
  4. Rinse thoroughly
  5. Store the bar on a well-draining surface or dish

And that’s all there is to it! Start washing waste-free for only $13 per bar.

Grove Collaborative Acure Dry Shampoo Review

Once you’ve got your hair care routine down pat, you might realize that washing your locks every day isn’t exactly the ideal choice, both for your hair and your time. So, keep your roots refreshed and save precious time spent shampooing and styling with the Acure Dry Shampoo.

This powdery product soaks up extra oil with a cornstarch and kaolin clay base and helps you feel fresh and ready to go, even when you haven’t had the chance to wash your hair in a few days.

It’s made with rosemary and peppermint for a fresh and clean smell and is free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, formaldehyde, and petroleum. To use it, simply sprinkle it in your hair or on your hairbrush and work it into your scalp by brushing through your strands.

For a little refresh, the Grove Collaborative Acure Dry Shampoo retails for only $10.

Grove Collaborative OARS + ALPS Hydrating Shampoo Review

If all you’ve ever wanted is fresh luscious locks, but all you ever come out of the shower with is dry, straw-like ends, it might be time to switch to the Grove Collaborative OARS + ALPS Hydrating Shampoo.

Free of sulfates, this creamy soap combines kelp and algae extract to hydrate and cleanse your tresses. The ocean scent will have you feeling fresh out of the water, but your hair will be moisturized and bouncy like it’s never seen the sea before.

To complete your hair care routine, run the OARS + ALPS Hydrating Conditioner through your hair. Make a splash with your thick and glossy waves and invest in this shampoo, retailing for $14.

Grove Collaborative Ursa Major Go Easy Shampoo Review

We like to think Adele wrote “Easy on Me” about the Grove Collaborative Ursa Major Go Easy Shampoo. The water might not be gold, but this shampoo sure is.

Whether you’ve got coarse locks and thick strands or fine, pin-straight hair, this shampoo is made for anybody. All hair needs nourishment, and that’s exactly what this shampoo is here to do. The aloe extract and glycerin keep your tresses shiny, strong, and smooth, while the coconut-derived surfactant lathers and moisturizes your locks for long-term results

With a unisex woodsy scent, the Ursa Major Go Easy Shampoo is ideal for giving your hair a break from harsh products and heat styling, adding a little life back into it for $26.

Grove Collaborative Hibar Maintain Solid Shampoo Review

The Grove Collaborative Hibar Maintain Solid Shampoo bar is plastic-free, color-safe, derived from natural ingredients, and comes in recyclable paper packaging.

Shea butter, olive oil, and coconut oil keep your hair hydrated and shiny while cleansing off the oils and debris of the day. This way, your hair will feel clean but never stripped for ideal, glossy locks.

To use this shampoo, simply massage the bar across your hair, applying it from the roots to the tips of your strands. To complete your routine, pair this bar with the Hibar Maintain Solid Conditioner, both of which retail for $13.

Grove Collaborative Soapbox Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo Bar Review

When it’s time to detox your hair, freeing it from product build-up and daily pollutants, give the Grove Collaborative Soapbox Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo Bar a try.

If you haven’t tried DIY teeth whitening with activated charcoal, you might not know that it’s an effective detoxifier. Luckily, Soapbox put two and two together for us and came up with the same thing, but for your hair. Essentially, the charcoal in this mighty little bar removes dirt and oil from your hair for that squeaky clean feel.

At the same time, shea butter hydrates and revitalizes your locks, for silky smooth tresses that are super clean and ready for a week free of washes. Plus, it comes in recyclable packaging that is plastic-free, so you can feel good knowing that there’s no waste.

Simply lather the bar through your hair, massaging it into the roots for a super clean feel. Rinse it out and show off your rejuvenated locks for $15.

Grove Collaborative Acure Curiously Clarifying Shampoo Review

Curiosity didn’t kill this cat—in fact, it made her hair softer, more luxurious, and as shiny as silk. The Grove Collaborative Acure Curiously Clarifying Shampoo washes away the day while simultaneously hydrating and purifying.

The lemongrass adds a fresh scent while simultaneously cleansing build up and oil from the hair. The argan oil works to infuse your locks with proteins and fatty acids while moisturizing your hair for a frizz-free sheen.

Simply massage the Acure Curiously Clarifying Shampoo into your wet hair and rinse it out, to achieve clean and hydrated hair for $10.

Who Is Grove Collaborative For?

Grove Collaborative Review

The brand claims that it’s for anyone who never wants “to choose between a clean home and a clean planet.” For the purpose of my Grove Collaborative review, I think it’s safe to agree, but also the brand is for anyone who cares just as much about what they’re putting on their body as what they’re putting out into the world

You’ll never have to sift through lists of products again, trying to determine what’s safe to use and what isn’t, since this brand collects all the best items in one place. Plus, the shampoo products themselves are made for all different hair types. Whether you’ve got an oily scalp or coarse, thick locks, there’s a shampoo to suit your needs.

Grove Collaborative Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Grove Collaborative Review

To paint a clear picture of what the brand and its products are truly like, I’ll check out some customer testimonials to include in my Grove Collaborative review. We sourced comments from the brand’s website, Better Business Bureau, TrustPilot, and SiteJabber.

But before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s take a look at how some of the brand’s bestselling products are rated:

  • Acure Curiously Clarifying Shampoo: 4.6/5 stars from 48 reviews
  • Ursa Major Go Easy Shampoo: 4.7/5 stars from 17 reviews
  • Peach Shampoo Bar: 4.4/5 stars from 95 reviews
  • Acure Dry Shampoo: 4/5 stars from 45 reviews

On the company’s website, plenty of shoppers love the results they get when using the Peach Shampoo Bar. One patron appreciates that the bar is curly girl method approved, providing hair with moisture, and clarifying it while never stripping:

I have 3a/3b long curly hair and I have to use a shampoo occasionally to prevent build up. When I focus the moisturizing bar on my scalp and try to keep it off my ends it does a great job of removing build up and not drying out my hair too much. I feel like with protein sensitive hair I can never find the cool plastic free or special hair care products. Please don’t change the recipe!”

The brand is also rated 4.4/5 stars on TrustPilot (from 3891 reviews). One customer loves the selection on the company’s website. Here is their glowing Grove Collaborative review:

Grove Collaborative has many products that I buy over and over for my home, my skin, and even my pets! I love the commitment to the environment, sustainability, and quality goods. There is something for everyone and I have not yet been disappointed at all!”

Another shopper stated that they appreciate the brand’s goal to be eco-friendly:

The convenience of home delivery of environmentally safe, low or no plastic products cannot be beat. The variety of items that can be purchased is very impressive. The prices are very reasonable and in line with the “regular” stores and I LOVE the notes that come on each shipping box.”

On SiteJabber, the company is rated 2.77/5 stars based on a small pool of 214 reviews. One happy buyer wrote a detailed review:

This company has changed my life. Not only did I get a handwritten thank you on my box I got reminder emails from when my shipment is due out. I love the fact that they do that so that I’m able to stay on budget if I can’t afford a shipment. I also love the fact that this company listens to their customers and actively works to make the world a better place”

The brand also received an A rating on the Better Business Bureau’s website. On this site, their customer service team is quick to respond to all consumer questions and issues, as evidenced by one reviewer’s comment:

“On my most recent Grove order they did not include my free gift. I’ve read this has happened to others as well. I contacted Grove and they immediately gave me a one time $10 credit. It was quick and painless and they were very kind!”

To wrap up my Grove Collaborative review, I think that the brand works hard to supply top-quality products with both the users and the world in mind. And that’s why their products and the company itself are well-loved—since both effectively provide what shoppers are looking for—eco-friendly and natural products that perform as well or better than products that are not those things.

Is Grove Collaborative Worth It?

On top of that, it’s super convenient to have necessities, such as shampoo, delivered straight to your door so you don’t need to worry about picking it up on your next outing.
