About Odele

Odele Review

Over the course of my 20s, I somehow developed the misguided belief that expensive always meant better. In my 30s, I’m all about finding affordable, high-quality beauty products because, truly, they do exist.

Odele is one of them, a refreshing option in a world full of overpriced haircare.

With premium formulas that eliminate over 1,300 banned ingredients, this cruelty-free, vegan line has quickly gained ground since launching in 2020

Odele’s founders Lindsay Holden, Britta Chatterjee, and Shannon Kearney created the brand during their kids’ nap time. Their lightbulb idea? Haircare and skincare with fancy ingredients and luxe packaging without the luxury prices.

Their approach has clearly paid off considering they’ve been featured by the who’s-who of media, including Who What Wear, Allure, Glamour, and InStyle. They also have an ever-growing Insta following of 18k and are sold at Target.

To get the full scoop on the brand before you shop, I highly recommend checking out this Odele review. I’ve packed it with information about their 5 best selling formulas, feedback, FAQ, and more. Let’s kick things off with the highlights.

5 Best Selling Odele Products

Odele Air Dry Styler Review

5-step routines and lengthy blowouts are great and all, but most of us don’t have the time (or willpower) for a complicated haircare routine. If you’re looking for a product that does more, for less, then the Odele Air Dry Styler might just become your new best friend.

Smoothing and softening hair without heat, this salon-grade styler negated frizz to separate waves and texturize fine strands. To use, all you have to do is work it evenly into towel-dried hair and be on your way.

Ingredients like hydrolyzed rice protein help create texture while Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract promotes shine and softness. A dab will do you for this one—get a 6 oz tube for $12

What customers say: “This transformed my hair. I have half curly half straight hair (weird) and this makes both parts shine and blend into each other in a pretty way. Please never change or discontinue! Smells good too.” – Ty, Odele.com

Odele Volumizing Shampoo Review

If you have damaged, lifeless hair, you probably put a lot of weight on your conditioner to bring about shine and repair. But using an effective shampoo will set your conditioner up for success. The Volumizing Shampoo is step one in achieving fullness, shine, and weightless hydration.

Thanks to hydrolyzed rice protein, this shampoo will help thicken your hair over time while amino acids from Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract fortify. To use, lather into wet hair and follow up with the matching conditioner. A 13 oz bottle of this Odele shampoo is $12.

What customers say: “Love this shampoo! It leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped, and voluminous. Def recommend!” – Becs, Odele.com

Odele Volumizing Conditioner Review

When it comes to conditioner, we’re not asking for a miracle, we just want something that doesn’t weigh our hair down. The Volumizing Conditioner is a simple, weightless formula that enhances the shine and fullness of your hair.

It’s ideal for straight and wavy, fine to medium strands and uses Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract to nourish and protect. For best results, use the Volumizing Conditioner after the Volumizing Shampoo. Grab a 13 fl oz bottle for $12.

What customers say: “This is the best conditioner for volume, especially if you have fine, silky hair, it gives me so much volume without feeling cakey on the roots, I love this.” – Ella, Odele.com

Odele Leave-In Detangling Tonic Review

Tangled hair can often lead to breakage, but not with this Leave-In Detangling Tonic. Using chia seed extract and hydrolyzed quinoa to coat your strands with polyunsaturated fats, this leave-in infuses your hair with amino acids and promotes moisture retention.

If you do a lot of heat styling, this will probably be your saving grace considering it provides a bit of heat protection too. Lightweight, it boosts the shine and softness of all hair types. Spray on towel-dried hair and comb through. Pick up an 8 oz bottle for $11.

What customers say: “Wow! I’m thrilled with this product! It is amazing! My hair always tangled after a shower, but putting this on before brushing my hair makes such a huge difference! I love it!” – See Y., Odele.com

Odele Texturizing Sea Spray Review

Is there a hairstyle sexier than tousled waves? I’ll let you be the judge, but if a casually kinky style is what you’re after, look no further than the Texturizing Sea Spray

Mimicking the volumizing effects of a day swimming in the sea, after spritzing this styling spray on damp hair and scrunching, your hair will feel thicker and have texture. How? Ingredients like hydrolyzed rice protein are touted to be supreme volume providers.

It’s best for balanced straight and wavy fine to medium hair. Keep an 8oz bottle of this styler handy for $12.

What customers say: “I have been using this for a few weeks on damp hair after my showers and I love the extra texture it gives to my hair.” – Gracey, Odele.com

Does Odele Work?

Odele Review

Odele has some seriously great feedback, and that’s the first notion I got that their formulas really do work. Upon further investigation, I read of their superstar ingredients like hydrolyzed rice protein and Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, the latter used to nourish and hydrate skin and hair.

Who do I recommend Odele for

Odele is an awesome choice for anyone who wants clean, cruelty-free haircare for an affordable price. Sold at Target, the line is accessible and rarely goes above $12 per 13 oz bottle.

Who I don’t recommend Odele for

While Odele’s formulas are clean, they’re not highly natural. Those seeking organic formulas mostly made from plant-based ingredients should look elsewhere.

While you will find Odele body wash in their collection, those looking for advanced skincare formulas may want to consider another brand as well.

Alternatives To Odele

Odele Review

If you’ve made it to this point of my Odele review and don’t think the brand is for you, don’t worry, you have options. Here are a few comparable brands to consider that might work out even better:

  • Briogeo is more expensive than Odele, but their formulas are made mostly from plant-based ingredients.
  • Shea Moisture is another affordable brand that focuses on hydration. It uses primarily natural ingredients. You’ll be able to find this one at Target as well.
  • For color care, try Pureology. This line of professional-level products is cruelty-free like Odele, though it’s a bit more expensive.

What Do Experts Think?

Odele Review

Odele was medically reviewed by Brian Moore MD, FAAD on Illuminate Labs, a website that assesses brand claims based on the scientific evidence available for their ingredients.

They said that while Odele is “healthier than the majority of drug store shampoos,” they’re not a fan of the fragrance and added preservatives in their formulas.

Still, the fact that Odele has banned 1,300 potentially toxic ingredients is an awesome start. While I’m not an expert, I do appreciate that their formulas are cruelty-free and vegan too. Next up in this Odele review, you’ll hear from customers.

Odele Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Odele Review

Since I’m no stranger to trying luxury haircare, I know that results can sometimes vary. However, to find out what customers think about this line in general, I combed the web for helpful feedback and will lay it out for you in this section of my Odele review.

Let’s check out some ratings for Odele’s best-sellers first, as shown on their website:

Also, the Volumizing Shampoo was rated 4.8/5 stars from 167 reviews, and here’s what one shopper had to say about it in their Odele review:

I love this product. From the smell to the texture, it really made a difference for my hair. I have such silky fine hair that it was impossible to have volume, until I tried this.

There’s quite a bit of celebration going on among the Odele beauty reviews on the brand’s site, it looks like shoppers are really pleased with the results. A blog called Beauty and Colour reviewed a few different Odele products. This is what they said about the Curl Defining No Lather Shampoo:

As someone with naturally curly hair that can get weighed down since it is extremely thick AND long, I always like finding a good curl defining product…This product was a win for me – I feel like my hair doesn’t even need to be styled after using this shampoo, and all I have to do is let it air dry and can then wear it as is!

The Odele review on Beauty and Colour gave honest feedback about all of the products sampled. While some worked better than others for the writer’s type of hair, all of them delivered some great results.

Odele is sold at Target, and there was tons of feedback available for each product. The Clarifying Shampoo was awarded a 4.6/5-star average by 482 guests. Here’s the rating snapshot:

  • 5 stars: 80%
  • 4 stars: 8%
  • 3 stars: 5%
  • 2 stars: 3%
  • 1 star: 4%

Odele is my new favorite brand and this one specifically works great and smells so good. It clears buildups perfectly while does not contain harsh chemicals… leaves the scalp/hair very clean, shiny, and soft. A little bit goes a long way so the price is reasonable,” wrote one customer in their Odele review.

Odele checks a lot of boxes for customers. It’s clean, cruelty-free, affordable, smells great, and most importantly, it works. Hair care results vary from person to person but overall, this brand scores highly across the web.

Is Odele Legit?

Odele Review

Nothing I found during this Odele review would make me think otherwise. It’s sold at Target, featured in big-name publications (Hello, Allure!), and raved about by thousands of customers. As far as legit standards go, I’m pretty sure Odele takes the cake.

Is Odele Worth It?

Odele Review

As a self-proclaimed beauty junkie, let me tell you, it’s not easy to find high-quality, clean products that work. It’s even harder to find them for affordable prices.

Women rejoice when they come across Odele because it’s like hitting the haircare jackpot. At the end of the day, we all just want healthy, good-looking hair, and Odele delivers.
