About Othership
The saying “it’s as easy as breathing” is full of irony. The stress of modern-day life is powerful enough to influence the most basic human functions. Case in point, Othership is a mobile app designed to refocus and recenter your state of mind through guided breathwork.
Designed to reduce anxiety and improve mood, Othership is considered the go-to method for over 10.7k people on Instagram. They’ve also been featured in many magazines including Vogue, Forbes, Goop, The Globe and Mail.
When the world won’t stop spinning, it’s natural to request a time-out. Perhaps this brand can act as your ‘breather.’ Stay tuned for my Othership review as I will take an in-depth look at the company, its services, customer ratings, promotions, and more to help you decide if they’re worth a quick download.
Overview of Othership
From the get-go, Othership might sound like an alien spacecraft. In a metaphorical sense, they do provide an other-worldly experience through immersive ambiance and meditative music. Designed to help alleviate the stressors of modern-day life, Othership subscribers can tune in to their preferred session for periods of bliss.
The physical location – a modern Bathhouse concept – is situated in the bustling streets of Toronto. Founders Robbie Bent, Harrison Taylor, Amanda Laine, Emily Bent, and Myles Farmer wanted to create a social wellness alternative to standard nightlife and a place where people can focus on their emotional wellbeing in a supportive community environment.
Othership, Guided Breathwork app, birthed in the wake of the pandemic, is designed to promote relaxation for people who struggle with anxiety and stress. It’s considered a more convenient alternative to meditation, given that sessions are active, which makes it easier to feel the immediate benefits and thus, easier to build and maintain a new mindfulness routine.
According to the company’s LinkedIn page:
“Our mission is to gather a community of the best facilitators in the world, across all the popular breathwork styles, to give you on-demand access to programs for reducing stress and anxiety, boosting performance, managing emotions, reaching altered states, and increasing productivity.”
Before I get my Othership review started, let’s go over some initial highlights.

Othership Breathing App Review
Othership isn’t just a timely reminder to breathe – it’s a more intricate app than that. The sessions are divided into three main categories: Up, Down, and All Around, and organized in playlists depending on length and focus. In the below sections of my Othership review, I will go over some details that are worth keeping in mind.
How Does Othership Work
Othership is designed to work within your schedule. Compared to in-person yoga or exclusive spa treatments, this app can be used at any time.
Subscribers have access to a library of expertly curated breathwork sessions, which includes sessions like Up, Down, All Around, Body, and Brain. Each program is enhanced with atmosphere soundscapes, specialized music, and of course, breathing exercises to help induce relaxation.
Each session is quite short, as members can easily tune in for a mere 7-10 minutes. If you want to really unwind, some programs last for an astounding 50 minutes. The Othership App is also programmed with daily notifications and progress tracking to ensure you stay on course.
Compatible with Apple and Android devices alike, take this as your sign to learn how to take control over your emotional state.
Othership Key Features
Need a short list of app specs? If so, this section of my Othership review will give you a brief rundown of what a subscription includes:
- Guided Breathwork: Othership offers 5 different breathing styles organized by need and lifestyle. There are over 500 on-demand sessions to choose from.
- Streak and Progress Tracking: Not convinced of its supposed results? Subscribers can easily monitor their progression by signing into the app.
- Daily Push Notifications: Those who forget to relax will find this feature particularly useful.
- Compatible with Apple and Android Devices: If you run out of space on your phone, you can easily download the Othership app on your tablet or laptop.
Othership Program Descriptions
As previously mentioned, Othership has over 500 on-demand programs to choose from. They also add dozens of new sessions each week. It’s worth noting that the app provides several breathwork styles for subscribers to try out, including diaphragmatic breathing, ocean’s breath, and the Buteyko Method.
Here are a few of their available sessions:
- Sleepy Time: Perfect for those who suffer from running thoughts and insomnia, this 7-minute session can help induce some much-needed zzzs.
- Calming and Relaxing: if you require a time-out during your 9-5 grind, this 5-minute session can help put things in a better perspective.
- Productivity Boost: Ever heard of a power nap? This two-minute session provides the same effects but without the need for sleep.
Core sessions such as Up or Down are best used in the morning and before bedtime. The All Around program is ideally played every week, which requires 29 minutes of free time.
Othership Pricing
Othership offers two subscription plans to choose from:
- Annual membership costs just under $130. It comes with a 14-day free trial.
- Monthly membership costs $18 per month. It comes with a 7-day free trial.
It’s worth mentioning that those who signed up for their free trial can only access their complementary programs, such as Self Love and Conscious to Subconscious. You might hit a paywall if you want to use their newer programs.
Who Is Othership For?
Ideal for busy bees, Othership is geared toward those who want to make time for relaxation but can’t afford to do so due to their schedule. While they do offer longer sessions, subscribers can look forward to 2 to 3-minute intervals if they prefer something shorter. It’s considered a great way to unwind and pass the time if you’re commuting or taking a work break.
Othership Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
Othership is designed to encourage chill vibes. With that in mind, it would be ironic if its testimonial count held nothing but angry subscribers. Fortunately, I found Othership reviews to hold a relatively positive consensus online. The company has yet to share how many comments are posted on its official page, so I thought it best to share some ratings from outside sources.
- Product Hunt: 249 votes with 5/5 stars
- The App Store: 215 reviews with 4.9/5 stars
- AppGroves: 358 votes with 4.7/5 stars
- Google Play: 127 reviews with 4.3/5 stars
Life-changing, impactful, and convenient to use, hundreds of customers are sharing their success stories with the Othership app. Subscribers report that their breathwork sessions helped to reduce stress and anxiety.
“I couldn’t BELIEVE how amazing and uplifted I felt after a 6-minute breathwork session with Harry on the Othership App. The way it’s produced makes it incredibly engaging, exciting, and feels supportive all the way through,” one user on the App Store shared.
“I’ve tried a few other breathing and meditation apps and none of them really did anything for me. Othership actually worked. It woke me up, it calmed me down and I love the guided exercises,” one member wrote on the brand’s website.
I also found a few independent blogs that wrote their own Othership reviews. According to the website Aazar, Othership’s breathwork sessions did an exceptional job of encouraging mental clarity, focus, and meditation.
“While various apps are specifically designed to help you meditate, I have found that Othership is one of the better choices in the market. Moreover, it offers many features that you would not get from those generic meditation apps,” Aazar’s reviewer wrote.
Many users clearly found the app to be really valuable compared to others on the market.
Is Othership Legit?
After reading a ton of Othership reviews I found online, many people love this app and how it made them feel. It appears that this brand is in the clear.
Is Othership Worth It?
Like many Android or iPhone users, I have my reservations when it comes to paid apps. This bodes especially true for meditation programs, as I’m not exactly sure how it measures up to professional therapists and organized physical activities.
That said, it’s hard to argue with the number of positive Othership reviews. Reportedly helpful in quelling stress, what’s $11 or $18 per month if it’s in the name of mental clarity? Especially when you compare that to breathwork, meditation, or yoga classes priced at $30 a pop.
With Othership, you get unlimited access to over 500 sessions that can also be downloaded and enjoyed offline—anywhere. All in all, I highly recommend that you check them out if you are looking to destress or need help getting to sleep.
Othership Promotions & Discounts
At the time of writing my Othership review, I found out that customers can get a 14-day free trial if they sign up for the yearly membership. For its monthly program, subscribers can receive a 7-day grace period.
The brand also offers one month free codes and you can also get 5 free sessions through the app without a subscription.
Lastly, you can check out the brands YouTube channel which has a ton of free sessions.
