About Sable Card

Sable Card Review

It’s no secret that banking involves a lot of paperwork. On top of filing documents, traditional institutions need important credentials such as proof of citizenship and run on a strict ‘borderless’ policy. If you need an easier way to manage your money, Sable Card allows more freedom and flexibility for all types of bankers.

Meant for students, immigrants, and people who require additional accessibility to banking, Sable Card is a more convenient alternative. Unique in industry focus, this brand has caught the attention of several media outlets, including CNBC, Yahoo Finance, and BusinessWire

Looking for a smarter way to save, spend, and invest? Perhaps this brand can be the breath of fresh air you need. Keep reading my Sable Card review for a comprehensive take on the company, its services, customer ratings, promotions, and more.

Overview of Sable Card

Sable Card Review

Signing up for a bank account often comes with more rejection than acceptance. Founders Andrej Paule, Towers Wilen, and Naveen Qureshi were all too familiar with the overwhelming nature of US financial firms, as they all faced challenges in setting up individual profiles as immigrants.

Somewhat traumatized by their collective experiences with the finance industry, they decided that it was time to make a change.

Sable launched in December 2018 in the heart of New York City. Created to make banking more accessible for all walks of life, this financial firm looks to open up boundaries associated with saving and spending.

In their own words: “For over a century, the U.S. has put up barriers based on race, nationality, gender, sexuality, and more to life-changing tools like credit and debit. It’s not a new problem, but it was time for a new solution, so we built Sable: effortless, borderless banking for a more connected world.”

Before I begin my Sable Card review, let’s go over some initial highlights.

Highlights

  • A more convenient and accessible form of banking
  • Fewer requirements (credit history or minimum deposits)
  • No hidden fees or credit checks
  • Users can receive unlimited 2% cashback on their favorite brands
  • Offers a mobile app for customers to use
  • Positive reviews

Adulting is often described as throwing a bucket of cold water over your head. An overwhelming shock to your senses, developing key life skills is a lot harder than it seems. Banking is one of these crucial responsibilities, as managing your finances is important for personal stability. But does it always have to be so complicated?

If you’re lacking credentials, there’s no need to worry. You can still sign up for a debit or credit card through Sable.

This financial firm involves no red tape, as they’re passionate about making banking as accessible as possible. Given the nuance of this brand compared to established institutions like Bank of America and Wells Fargo, you’re probably wondering if Sable is a legit alternative.

Care for a quick rundown? If so, I’ll discuss some notable specs to consider next in my Sable Card review.

Sable Card Features Review

Sable Card Review

Let’s kick things off by tackling the brand’s debit card first. If you favor convenience and efficiency, signing up for a Sable debit card requires a measly 5 minutes.

Its features are pretty cool, too, as this program is packed full of benefits that you wouldn’t usually associate with other traditional banks. This includes:

  • Unlimited cashback
  • Zero annual fees
  • Purchase protection
  • Excellent international transfer rate for over 55+ countries

The Sable ONE credit card is also built with customer perks. A great way to boost your credit score, this program also comes with unlimited cashback and no annual fees. There’s no need to worry about rejection here, as Sable boasts a 98% approval rate.

Additionally, users can set their own credit limit and use their cards at any boutique, restaurant, or shop. It’s worth mentioning that any place that accepts Mastercard will also accept Sable.

Sable Card App Review

Sable Card Review

There are moments when checking your savings account is absolutely crucial. Receiving notifications on unauthorized purchases on the go usually triggers an automatic log-in. Additionally, transfers for when it’s time to split the bill are also a common practice. Thankfully, Sable is with the times, as they recognize the need for mobile banking.

The Sable Card App allows users to access their credit scores, checking and savings account, and other vital information while on the move. This free application is available to download on Google Play and the App Store. You can even sign up through the app, which is great for those who don’t own a PC at home.

How Does Sable Card Work?

Sable Card Review

Ready to start a Sable account? Unfortunately, at the time of writing my Sable Card review, the brand is no longer accepting applications.

If you were able to sign up before they closed applications, or if they open them up again, I’ll outline a couple of things you need to know about using the card. Basically, Sable works like any other debit or credit card!

Sabel gives you all the benefits of a major credit card or bank without the elaborate barriers to entry. Given its mission, Sable’s cards are designed specifically to help you build credit in the US. That way, you can improve your financial standing and apply for other cards or loans in the future.

With a quick approval process, high approval rating, no social security number needed, and 2% cash back, Sable makes it as easy as possible to start building your credit and investing in your future.

Sable Card Fees

Sable Card Review

There’s no catch to using Sable. There’s no monthly charge for managing your banking account. Additionally, you don’t have to input a minimum account balance to join.

The only fees you need to pay are for sending domestic wire transfers ($5), receiving domestic wire transfers ($3), international wire transfers ($15), and card delivery ($20). You are also required to pay 2% of foreign transaction fees for purchases and ATMs.

Who Is Sable Card For?

Sable Card Review

As vital as they are in ensuring financial stability, banks aren’t as accessible as they seem to be. Traditional firms are often quite exclusive, requiring certain credentials from potential clients.

If you’re missing a few qualifications, Sable is a more merciful alternative. Sign-up is easy, as joining Sable doesn’t involve a lot of paperwork. It’s recommended for immigrants, international customers, students, and anybody who feels left out when it comes to the American banking system.

Sable Card Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Sable Card Review

Established banks are typically around for decades. Sable, on the other hand, launched in early 2018. There’s a common misconception that new financial firms aren’t legitimate, but is there any truth to this?

Based on my research, it seems that Sable works to disprove this belief. I uncovered hundreds of positive comments worth including, and here’s how they scored:

  • The App Store: 7,895 reviews with 4.8/5 stars
  • Google Play: 6,575 reviews with 3.6/5 stars
  • WalletHub: 192 reviews with 2.8/5 stars

Accessible and convenient, customers were quick to recommend the Sable app. Users stated that the brand was helpful for international customers, improving their credit scores, and keeping them on top of their finances.

One user on Google Play wrote: “This is a great alternative to corporate banking which is the worst these days. The secured credit card features are simply superb; the option that links a Sable checking to the credit card account allowing for instant credit limit increases and payments to be made on the account is one of the top benefits Sable has to offer.”

“It is a great account. I love that they send both your debit card and secured card at the same time as soon as you open the account,” one customer wrote on the App Store.

Blogs like The College Investor also spoke highly of Sable: The perks and rewards offered through the Sable app are enticing. But the real win is the ability to access banking features that are essential for everyday life without a credit check required and no Social Security Number required for non-U.S. citizens.”

Before you leave your old bank, I thought it best to go over some complaints I found online as well. I’ll cover those details in the next segment of my Sable Card review.

Is Sable Card Legit?

Sable Card Review

Sable isn’t totally free of negative feedback. Some users noted glitches with the app, poor customer service, and issues with personal banking. Aside from this, you can relax knowing the amount of positive Sable Card reviews outnumbered the complaints.

Is Sable Card Worth It?

Sable Card Review

Switching banks always involves some anxiety. This is especially true if you’re moving from an established firm to a newly-launched company. With that in mind, Sable is a good option for those who have yet to set up an American bank account.

It’s a great alternative for students, international customers, and immigrants who often face issues with traditional brands, as they typically come with a lot of red tape. Convenient and easy to use, I can confidently recommend this company.
