About Sunbeam

Sunbeam Review

Kurt Vonnegut’s famous quote from Slaughterhouse-Five goes like this, “Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.”

I doubt Vonnegut would say that if he saw my back, because brother, nearly everything hurts. Yet, like most of the world, I can’t just lay down because my bones ache and my shoulders are tight. People need solutions, and Sunbeam has them in droves.

Sunbeam is a branch of Newell Brands, a larger company that produce a plethora of appliances.

However, I’m going to be focusing on just Sunbeam’s heating pads today. They’re one of the global leaders of such devices and have helped millions conquer their nagging muscle pains.

Their heating pads line the shelves of Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and other major American shopping centers. If you check the brand’s Instagram page, you’ll find that they have over 4k followers who tune in for wellness tips and other surprises.

That being said, there shouldn’t be any surprises in this Sunbeam review. It’s going to cover the brand’s history, their products, their prices, what customers think about them, and more.

With all that information you should be able to conclude whether or not a Sunbeam heating pad can help you.

Sunbeam has quite a storied history. Their origins date all the way back to 1897 when John K. Stewart and Thomas J. Clark came together to form the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company.

Under this name, they produced dozens of appliances that they titled Sunbeam, beginning with the Princess Electric Iron

It wasn’t until 1928 when they struck gold with the Sunbeam Mixmaster, a beater that had two detachable heads.

It was their best-selling product for the next four decades, likely because home baking was taking over America. The Sunbeam line of appliances, helped by the Mixmaster, were so popular that Chicago Flexible Shaft renamed themselves Sunbeam.

While the brand struggled in the 90s and early 2000s, they’ve come to their own again albeit with a different aim. Many of their former appliances are nowhere to be found on their website. Instead, they’ve shifted their focus to another market – heating pads

This may seem like quite the lateral step, but it makes sense when you think about it.

Sunbeam spent nearly a century developing appliances that made people’s lives easier and reduced stress. These days most people don’t use nearly as many appliances that Sunbeam used to make.

Instead, people have nagging back problems from hours spent work, or they’re nursing long-standing knee injuries, or they’re dealing with menstrual pain. Simply put, people are hurting, and the main remedy is either painkillers or recovery.

Luckily, Sunbeam’s current focus is perfectly suited for those people. They make heating pads to help people deal with pain of multiple varieties. They’ve found great success with this approach too, seeing as how Sunbeam’s goods are easily attainable through most mainstream wellness locations.

The amazing thing is that, despite all the info I’ve just given you about the company, I’ve still barely scratched the surface in this Sunbeam review. I’ll get into more detail after glancing through a few of the brand’s highlights.

Sunbeam Heating Pad Review

Let’s take a closer look at the Sunbeam heating pad and some of its variants. All of the prices I’ll include for the items in this Sunbeam review come from the brand’s Amazon store.

Sunbeam doesn’t sell their products directly so I had to use an external resource to find the best listing price.

Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad Review

Sunbeam Review
Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad

I may as well commence this section of my Sunbeam review by looking at the brand’s most quintessential product. The Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad is perfect for helping you release tension that contributes to joint and muscle pain.

Sunbeam has improved this product in recent years by increasing its size, meaning it’s better at caring for larger muscles along your lower back.

You can customize the Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad to your liking by toying with its 4 different heating settings. You’ll also be able to enjoy long-term therapy sessions because it has a two-hour automatic shutoff function.

Finally, if you do get too toasty with this pad and end up sweating more than you’d like then you’ll have nothing to worry about. You can pop the cover into the washing machine and have it ready as soon as possible.

You can pick up the Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad from Amazon for $30.

A customer says: “This heating pad is perfect as an aid to soothing aches and pains. My husband has an arthritic hip, and he finds the pad invaluable as the application of heat appears to assist with the pain. It is so useful to have four different heat settings as the desired threshold of heat can fluctuate. Another very useful feature is the 2-hour auto shut-off feature as it is so very easy to fall asleep without switching the pad off.”

Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad with XpressHeat and Compact Storage Review

Sunbeam Review
Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad with XpressHeat and Compact Storage

The central appeal of the Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad with XpressHeat and Compact Storage is how quickly it can deliver heat to your most sensitive areas. It can roar to life within 30 seconds so that you can deploy it at a moment’s notice.

Additionally, this product is easy to store and unfurl. It has two elastic straps that allow it to roll up neatly and then enter storage. Combining that with its quick heating properties makes it a necessity for those who need convenience.

Plus, the Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad with XpressHeat and Compact Storage comes with all the pros of the previous item in this Sunbeam review.

It has 4 different heat settings, a 2-hour automatic shutoff system, and intuitive controls. You can grab it on Amazon for $40.

A customer says: “This is the top of the line in quality and performance. This really helps with my back pain.”

Sunbeam Premium King Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage Review

Sunbeam Review
Sunbeam Premium King Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage

It’s almost like every new product in this Sunbeam review builds upon the foundation laid by the Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad

In reality, the Sunbeam Premium King Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage is simply an improvement on everything the aforementioned pad does. This one is bigger, heavier, and overall more beneficial.

Plus, it has Sunbeam’s compact storage straps so that it’s simple to roll away and store for another day. If you’re looking for a heating pad that’s easy to use yet a tad more indulgent then you should grab this one for $50.

A customer says: “Love the larger size. I have problems with my back and this Sunbeam king size heating pad hit’s the spot. No more moving around to find a good placement for that smaller pad with this 12”x24” pad, it hits the spot!”

Sunbeam Premium Standard Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage Review

Sunbeam Premium Standard Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage

If you’re looking for a heating pad in the lower end of the price range then you should look into the Sunbeam Premium Standard Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage. It’s built to fit most major muscle groups and provide quick heat for fast pain relief.

As you can tell by its name, it also has straps for easy storage. The pad itself is machine washable. You can pick up the Sunbeam Premium Standard Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage for $30.

A customer says: “Love the roll up with the elastic loops for convenient storage. It warms up in under 60 seconds – Wow! I would suggest watching the heat as it does get pretty hot. I love the microfiber cover.”

Sunbeam AdvancedHeat Standard-Sized Heating Pad, Sunbeam Heating Pad for Tough Pain Relief Review

Sunbeam Review
Sunbeam AdvancedHeat Standard-Sized Heating Pad, Sunbeam Heating Pad for Tough Pain Relief

This is the most popular item in my Sunbeam review based on both its average customer score and the number of buyer reviews.

That’s likely because the Sunbeam AdvancedHeat Standard-Sized Heating Pad, Sunbeam Heating Pad for Tough Pain Relief can remedy tougher muscle aches than the other products.

This heating pad can heat up more quickly and deliver relief on a deeper level than other Sunbeam products. It uses a double layering of graphene.

This extra coating not only allows the Sunbeam AdvancedHeat Standard-Sized Heating Pad, Sunbeam Heating Pad for Tough Pain Relief to reach peak heat more quickly, but it can concentrate said heat in localized areas.

With that being said, this is definitely the heating pad for you if you need a little extra tender, love, and care. Those familial qualities will cost you $55.

A customer says: “This heating pad is great. It stays heated and not just in one area but the entire pad stays hot…The buttons are lighted so you can use it in the dark without pressing the wrong buttons. The nicest part is that it disconnects from the charging cord so it can be wrapped up much easier.”

Sunbeam GoHeat USB Powered Heating Pad, Gray Review

Sunbeam Review
Sunbeam GoHeat USB Powered Heating Pad, Gray

The Sunbeam GoHeat USB Powered Heating Pad, Gray is maybe my favorite item I’ve included because of its portability.

Instead of using a typical power cord, it has a type A USB connector so that it can pair with anything. Obviously, you can connect an adapter to it and plug it into the wall, but that’s a little vanilla for my taste.

Because of the USB connector, you can take the Sunbeam GoHeat USB Powered Heating Pad, Gray with you wherever, making it a great companion for long flights or transit passages.

All you need is a portable battery, a computer, or anything else that can generate power and you’re set.

This heating pad also comes with a 58” extension cord for maximum flexibility. The only downside is that it has just 3 heating settings instead of 4, but honestly, that’s a trade I think is worth it. If you also think it’s worthwhile then you can buy this item for $80.

A customer says: “I plug it into my computer when I am sitting at my desk and it feels amazing on my lower back. I also use it with a power bank and in my car!!…What makes this unique is the size, I am able to place it in more areas comfortably and feel the heat. It is also washable.”

Who Is Sunbeam For?

Sunbeam Review

Those who should look into Sunbeam and their products are those who need to take care of low-intensity muscle soreness or aches.

If you tear your ACL then a Sunbeam heating pad isn’t going to do much for you. However, if you find that your back is feeling tight and sore, then a heating pad is probably just what the doctor ordered.

Sunbeam Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Sunbeam Review

I wanted to give you a general view of what customers think about Sunbeam, so I’ve put together a list of product scores from the items I spoke about in this article. All of the following customer scores come from the brand’s website:

  • Sunbeam AdvancedHeat Standard-Sized Heating Pad, Sunbeam Heating Pad for Tough Pain Relief: 4.9/5 stars based on more than 190 ratings
  • Sunbeam Premium King Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage: 4.9/5 stars based on more than 30 ratings
  • Sunbeam Premium Standard Size Heating Pad with Compact Storage: 4.7/5 stars based on more than 30 ratings
  • Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 190 ratings
  • Sunbeam GoHeat USB Powered Heating Pad, Gray: 4.2/5 stars based on more than 100 ratings
  • Sunbeam King Size Heating Pad with XpressHeat and Compact Storage: 4.2/5 stars based on more than 35 ratings

These are a few more customer Sunbeam review scores from a couple of other websites:

  • Consumer Affairs: 3.1/5 stars based on more than 600 pieces of customer feedback
  • SiteJabber: 3/5 stars from 3 pieces of customer feedback

Those numbers indicate that, overall, people were pleased with their Sunbeam purchases. Most positive reviews stated that the heating pads were effective at relieving pain. Here’s how one customer put it:

This Sunbeam heating pad is amazing! I have been using it for some lower back pain I have been having and it has helped so much. My back is not as stiff now when I get up in the mornings. The soft, plush material is very comfy.

Many Sunbeam reviews said that the products helped them get back to their life by decreasing their pain. In fact, most of the reviews I read on Sunbeam’s website indicated that people were using the pads daily. That’s how you know people like them.

This is another customer testimonial that highlights Sunbeam’s glowing qualities: “What a fantastic heating pad! I love so many things about it. It’s covered in the softest fabric. The heating pad has four different settings, that’s very nice. It turns off automatically, a very handy feature. I’ve used it every day since I got it. Love it!

The final customer review I want to include compliments the brand’s customer service. This was the most divisive part of Sunbeam’s branding because some people online were disappointed by their ability to solve problems.

However, as this next piece of customer insight points out, that wasn’t always the case: “Today was my second time contacting Sunbeam about a product that ceased to work properly, within the warrantied timeframe. Once again, Sunbeam honored the warranty and is shipping me a replacement.

Is Sunbeam Legit?

Sunbeam Review

Aside from the few negative customer reviews, I would say that Sunbeam is legit

Is Sunbeam Worth It?

Sunbeam Review

As I mentioned earlier in this Sunbeam review, you shouldn’t be buying these products to help you recover from serious injuries. Not only are they ineffective in those regards, but they weren’t even designed to help with those.

However, if you’re looking for relief from pain that’s just annoying enough to bug you every day then I think Sunbeam is definitely worth checking out

Their prices are quite fair and customers point out that the products work to help take care of pain. You can also wash them so that they don’t stink like sweat.

Perhaps it’s because I usually prefer at-home remedies over medications, but I believe that Sunbeam products are worth it.
